LeBron James Scoffs at Paternity Lawsuit
Leicester Bryce Stovell filed a $4 million lawsuit against LeBron and Gloria James, the NBA star’s mom, claiming fraud and defamation. Now attorneys for LeBron and Gloria have asked a judge to dismiss the suit, labeling it “rank speculation.” According to the new legal docs obtained by TMZ, LeBron’s lawyers scoffed at “… a man who claims that as a twenty-nine year old lawyer he got a 15-year old girl pregnant during a one-night stand and who never contributed a penny in child support would earn millions in commercial endorsements by crawling out of the wood-work after the child [more...]

DNA Testing Is A Slippery Slope For Casey Anthony Attorney's
I was shocked that the State of Florida had not already tested this bag and the contents inside for DNA, but apparently they have not. That said, I believe it is a huge mistake for Casey Anthony attorney's Jose Baez and Cheney Mason to focus attention on the science of DNA testing. DNA testing is a wonderful tool that has put many guilty people in prison and set free others who were not guilty. Since I believe Casey Anthony killed Caylee, for her attorney's to start desiring more DNA testing - they are placing on the public and legal record their trust and confidence in a science, which [more...]

DNA Evidence Leads to Exonerations in Mississippi, 30 Years Later ...
Is it just us, or does it seem that tales of the wrongfully-accused-getting-released-from-prison are popping up more and more frequently? The latest involves two men who were serving time in Mississippi. On Thursday, Phillip Bivens and Bobby Ray Dixon, who’d been serving life sentences for murder, were exonerated by a federal judge. After 30 years in prison, they were suddenly free, having been cleared by DNA evidence that pointed to another man. A third, who died in prison several years ago, is also slated to be cleared of the charges. Click here for the NYT article; here for an article in [more...]

How I wish that somewhere there existed an island for those who are wise and of goodwill.--Albert Einstein I have spent a lot of time over the past few days ruminating on racial identity. One striking finding was that among siblings, 20 percent had received a diagnosis of language delay or speech problems early in life. And half of them had particular qualities of speech that are autistic in nature. So the investigators believe that what is aggregating in these families is more than just the full syndrome of autism. In about 11 percent of families, more than one sibling has autism, and in many others, these subtle, quantitative signs and symptoms indicate many undiagnosed children are affected as well. That's important, Constantino says, because in studies involving DNA [more...]

Can DNA Testing Tell Us Anything About Native American Identity?
These type of testing has caused misinterpretation among public. When someone had his DNA tested and found that his DNA contained common inborn American genetic markers, it is not necessary means that he is a native of a tribe. Based on the test results, a person is recognized as a native of a tribe in U.S. when he has high frequencies of genetic markers which is common in this particular populations. Developing genetic markers are needed in order to prevent “false positives” results as common genetic markers can be found in non-inborn American populations. In conclusion, this particular [more...]
