Some facts about paternity tests and its association with DNA
The test is carried out usually after the child is born. There are methods to undertake the test while the child is yet in unborn stage; however there is some risk involved in the pre-natal paternity test, as it is termed, due to the requirement of taking fluid from the fetus or the placenta. For a child that has been delivered however, the test required just a swab from the cheeks of the child to get the DNA factors. Whatever be the case the actual test is carried out at specified laboratories only. There are modern day paternity test packs with the notice that these are home test kits. It [more...]

Zygosity Testing for Twins | Advance DNA Paternity Lab
Sometimes twins try to play tricks on us. Some identical twins act as if they are fraternal, while some fraternal twins appear to act more like identical twins, but how can you be sure? Usually the distinction is made at birth as identical twins share a placenta, while fraternal twins do not, although the opposite has been known to happen in rare instances. This occurs because identical twins are created from one fertilized egg, known as a zygote, that splits and forms two embryos, while fraternal twins occur when individual sperms fertilize two eggs during ovulation, and because of the [more...]

DNA research worldwide led to the discovery of genetic markers that are used to evaluate ancestry. These markers follow three types of inheritance pattern categories. A person inherits half of autosomal DNA from the biological mother and the other half from the biological father. The Y chromosome markers are paternally related and passed from a father to his son.
