Compression test results... - Honda Prelude Forum
just got done with my compression test. it got 120 on all 4 cylinders. I heard the numbers have to be close, but 120 is extremly low don't ya think? i think the gauge might have had a little leak or something but all the numbers where 120 and i THINK i did it right but idk. does that sound about right? i know my motor is good(i think) but i just wanted to test it to see what it was. i will be doing a leak down test this week or next week so that'll give me a better idea of the condition of the [more...]

Engine Stand and Compression Test questions for a 68 F100 360 ...
Good evening gentleman. I'm at that point of my 68 F100 restore project in which I'm fixing to pull my 360 engine and trans. I have a couple of questions. First question is what weight capacity engine stand do I need to use and what size faceplate should it have. Second question is can I conduct Compression Test with the engine on the stand or should it be still in the truck. I have everything disconnected from the engine or does the matter. Thanks guys for your help in [more...]

Hmmm. . .Interesting read. Running Compression Test
Someone had talked of doing a running compression test in an earlier post. I was reading about compression testing (proper techniques) and firstly found that I did my compression test wrong. I only let the engine do 3 revolutions. The site I read stated at least 5 to 10 to get an accurate reading for a "static" compression test. It also says to hold the throttle wide open while doing this so the engine gets the air it needs for the test. So I'll be redoing my compression test needless to say when I get home. This could be a couple of the reasons for my low compression readings. Next, I read [more...]

White smoke coming from the exhaust of my motorcycle. Compression test was normal. What could it be? I have a 2004 Yamaha R1 and there is white smoke coming from the exhaust of my motorcycle. I did a compression test to see if it was maybe a leaky head gasket or blown piston ring. The compression test results were normal. All cylinders were at about 180 (it's supposed to be around 210, but the [more...]

New truck--new problems - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
Compression test was good, except one cylinder was lower than the others @ 145, but they said it was still within spec. What to check now? Is the lower compression something to worry about? I'm planning on changing the spark plugs this weekend with some Motorcraft ones from the dealer. Should I try a fuel filter too? 02 Sensor? I really want to avoid just throwing parts at it and I'm new to the mod motors, so any troubleshooting tips would be [more...]

UL-rated explosion-proof motor designs face December 2010 ...
Even materials with no visible changes during exposure may weaken internally and fail the compression test. Polymer designers looked at resin and curative chemistry, cured cross-link density, accelerators, and fillers to develop an epoxy that would pass the UL-674 requirements. Henkel Corp., Rocky Hill, Conn., recently had its E‑40EXP potting material approved to UL 1204 as meeting compression strength requirements after exposure to the Group D solvents and vapors. © 2010 Penton Media, [more...]

Automatic PC Backup software Program | Publish Web Easy
Setting up email alerts easily and being able to test the function is also important. Important considerations are the features of data compression and encryption, data compression can save you time and storage space for the backup. We all want to protect our information from snoopers but for a business it is imperative. One of the features you should look for in a PC backup software is the ability to compress the data and do so quickly. Ease of use to the end user must be a consideration in an automatic PC backup system. With only a basic knowledge of the computer administration employees [more...]

Do Not Overdo The Antibiotics
The quest for finding new antibiotics is still in place, sending lots of scientists out grubbing around in the dirt and performing highly technical DNA analyses on likely-looking bits of mud or mould. This is because bacteria have a tendency to develop a resistance to a certain antibiotic, which means that the doctor has to dish out a different antibiotic... but then the bacteria become resistant to that next antibiotic, and so forth. Are bacteria getting stronger and stronger via the process of antibiotic-stimulated natural selection? Is survival of the fittest working to breed new [more...]

What is dynamic site acceleration? And is it worth paying for?
Get waterfalls from different locations using Webpagetest and check out the HTML bar (usually the first bar) and see if reducing the DNS lookup time (teal bar: assume 50%), the initial connection time (orange: assume by 60%), the server think time (green: assume 80%, only if you can cache your HTML)) and the download time (blue: assume 5% in North America and Europe and 50% in other parts of world) actually brings you a benefit. (I’m making a broad assumption that you already have compression turned on. If you don’t, you should.) Research the different companies, or email me. (I know [more...]

Test Compression with Less Stress - Cover Story - Quality
Commercially speaking, a compression test can be undertaken as part of the design process, in the production environment or in the quality control laboratory, and can be used to determine functionality and suitability of components or materials such as springs, switches and spray nozzles; to evaluate consistency of manufacture, in seam seal tests for sachets or actuation of dispensers, for example; or as part of a thorough quality check or safety evaluation, for instance, by measuring the expression force of a syringe or in a tablet crush test. A compression tester will normally measure two [more...]

The effect of DNA signals on nucleosome formation, chromatin ...
Much of the human genome is non-coding and it seems likely that at least some of the non-coding DNA is functionally important. However, only little is known about the possible function of the bulk of the human genome. Since essentially all the nuclear DNA is packaged into chromatin, it is likely that functional effects of non-coding DNA are mediated by the chromatin structure. By making use of human genomic sequence information now available, we showed that a specific set of periodic DNA motifs (period-10 VWG/CWB) encoded in genomic DNA is predicted to influence human chromosome function. The [more...]

Easy Video Editing – Creating Clips – oDesk | Freelance Jobs
YOUR RESPONSE MUST INCLUDE YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION SPEED. Every week, the production team puts out a 25 minute Episode (3GB .MOV file in h.264). It’s not complicated editing so I don’t need someone who will complicate the process. You need to be able to: – download the file from the web (25 min) – BROADBAND CONNECTION NEEDED! – edit the video into 4-5 clips based on segments of the show (each segment is [more...]

97 4.6 will not start - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
Well I had a low end knock. I was driving it down the road and it made a loud noise and now it will not start. When I turn it over it sounds like it wants to start but just can't or will not. I am not sure if I jumped timing. And if so what could I do? Can I just put the timing back? Or would and if it jumped timing could it have messed anything up? When I was driving it right before it died it was making a sound like rattiling when I took my foot off the gas. That is why I think it jumped timing. And when it did die on me I was moving down the road at about 50 mph and then the noise it [more...]
