I think we offer a very unique core gameplay DNA; our DNA is what we call the choreographed sandbox, effectively a combination of sandbox games and the intensity of a choreographed linear shooters. On one hand you have freedom, choice making and a free-form experience, and on the other you have intensity and the scripted moments that linear games are known for. We're trying to bridge that gap in a successful way. I think in Warhead we did that better than we did in Crysis - and I think Crysis 2 delivers it absolutely. Death row inmate seeks high court OK for DNA tests
Skinner, a former convicted car thief and parole violator, was trying to "game the system," Switzer said. Prosecutors have said there's no evidence to conclusively prove Skinner wasn't the killer and that ample evidence exists to show he is guilty. They also contend new DNA testing "would not affirmatively prove anything." "They're fixing to kill me for something I didn't do," Skinner, 48, said last December from a tiny visiting cage outside death row as his execution date neared. To head off the scheduled March execution, his legal team renewed its appeals seeking release of evidence for [more...]

In June, Iceland's Supreme Court agreed to her demand that his remains be exhumed to obtain tissue samples and settle the paternity suit. While working at the National Institutes of Health in the early 1990s, Venter developed a way to rapidly discover genes by exploiting snippets of DNA called expressed sequence tags. In 1992, he founded The Institute for Genomic Research, and, three years later, he and a team decoded the first genome of a free-living organism. That led to Venter’s best-known breakthrough, mapping the human genome. Last May, he achieved a defining moment in the history of biology when he inserted digitally created DNA into a living bacterium, forming the first synthetic life. The fact that the Supreme Court has granted Skinner’s request for a final review of this matter provides an excellent opportunity for the Court to affirm that once a convicted state prisoner has had an adequate opportunity to make a due process challenge to his conviction through a habeas corpus proceeding, other post-conviction proceeds are better left to the states to handle. “I made the decision to defend against this suit with an eye not only on Mr. Skinner’s case but on past and future cases as well. When we are asked why the U.S. is still in Afghanistan after a decade, we explain that America’s DNA profile has been all over that country since 1973. While no one was looking, the CIA’s secret mission became entangled with Pakistan’s support for Afghanistan’s small core of foreign-trained right wing Islamic extremists. Thanks to President Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, this entanglement blossomed into a marriage following the 1978 Marxist coup and a full-blown commitment to holy war and the Islamization of Pakistan – long before the Soviet invasion [more...]

While initiatives such as the Origin Of Life Prize have encouraged researchers to find non-super-naturalistic processes that might explain the origins of prescriptive information, no offerings to-date have withstood the test of scientific scrutiny. Indeed all known cases of such information invariably point to the work of a mind. Johnson emphasizes the relevance of probability in his espousal of this inference- the simplest form of life was found to be 10exp80,000 times more likely of having a mindful than a non-mindful source. Johnson repeatedly stresses how the information content of DNA is [more...]

Between the Covers: New to Our Shelves
In this explosive new book, Sam Harris tears down the wall between scientific facts and human values, arguing that most people are simply mistaken about the relationship between morality and the rest of human knowledge. Harris urges us to think about morality in terms of human and animal well-being, viewing the experiences of conscious creatures as peaks and valleys on a "moral landscape." Because there are definite facts to be known about where we fall on this landscape, Harris foresees a time when science will no longer limit itself to merely describing what people do in the name of [more...]

The Farce of Hyping Gene Studies - AGE OF AUTISM
By John Stone I could scarcely believe my eyes last week when BBC news made its principal story one morning last week a genetics paper purporting to “prove” the ADHD was a genetic disorder (HERE ). In fact, the study had really only at best discovered a modest statistical association between a genetic pattern (against controls) in 15% of cases. The authors no doubt eager to draw attention and further patronage for their activities could probably scarcely believe their luck with such a publicity coup. Equally fascinating was the speed with which the BBC realised its boob. By 9.30 am [more...]

There was some exciting news yesterday from the next-generation sequencing (NGS) field, with the buy-out of Ion Torrent - a start-up that’s developed a novel DNA sequencing machine – by the life-sciences behemoth Life Technologies (for a whopping 350million dollars). The technology for sequencing of DNA – the blueprint of all life – is at an exciting stage. Ten years ago, the complete human genome was sequenced at the cost of several billion dollars and decades of attempt. Today, a full genome can be sequenced for as little as $10,000 and in less than a week. The price and time are [more...]

With this definition in mind, the evil that Israel has done becomes manifest. The legislation reeks of injustice. It only applies to one subset of Israel, to the Arab minority. It is clearly targeted toward them. It is making a blanket claim that all Israeli Arabs are forthwith considered fifth columnists.
