PetConnection.com » The Tea Party supports puppy mills? Really?
Terrierman‘s lead paragraph says it all, so he’ll kick off the topic for us: Apparently Joe the Plumber and the Tea Party support Puppy Mills. No, I am not making this up. Here’s the link you want, but you will also note that there is no link to the actual legislation in question. What’s going on? It seems the Tea Party and “Joe the Plumber” have determined that a ballot measure in Missouri — a state known for being a puppy mill hotspot — is part of a “radical agenda.” Now, over to the Los Angeles Times. Now, let’s figure this one out. Who doesn’t like animals? The [more...]

HELP with AKC - German shepherd dog
Was hoping maybe someone could shed some light on what has turned into a painful situation. Long story short I bought GSD from what I thought was a reputtable breeder in August of 07. Checked references etc... Turned out she does NOT own the stud she claimed to. And she was never able to provide AKC papers. When I would ask she would say dont worry you will have them by the time you get your BH. Never once mentioning that she did not own the dog infact all along insinuated she did as it was in her possession. But recently the owner who is a Sheriff in Virginia actually registered [more...]

Dog Bought from Canada; already AKC Reg.- issue with AKC transfer ...
If you bought a dog from someone in Canada (you the buyer live in the US) and the dog was already AKC registered and DNA'd, the seller fills out all the paperwork, buyer fills out theirs, signed application for the transfer and all is sent in. Then a few weeks later AKC sends the buyer a letter stating they can't read the transfer date on the application sent in so now they want the paperwork they've enclosed filled out AGAIN by the seller in Canada and the buyer in the US. I think ok, sounds like just some inconvenience is all; I'll take care of it. Then I read further down the page [more...]

CKC VS AKC - German shepherd dog
same Dam and Sire, now I done some research on that, the reason why its done like that is: So they can use the stud over and over without having him DNA, since AKC requires DNA after somany stud services by a Stud dog performed. CKC does not require that. In my opinion I consider that a puppiemill . The thing is they consider them selfs as Ethnical GS Breeders but talk bad about others. These are the breeders who need to be taken of the market because they give our breed bad reputation because they don't care about Breed Standart, health or [more...]

pedigree numbers - Rottweiler Discussion Forums
The DNA number is just an ID#. The DNA was taken for several possible reasons. 1. Just as another form of permament ID like a tattoo or microchip. 2. The dog was a popular sire (or hoped to be) and the AKC requires DNA on file for studs that are used more then a certain number of times in a year or lifetime. 3. If AI is used, the stud's DNA needs to be on file even if it was only done once. There might be more, but these are the only ones I can think up right now. The OFA numbers are a very good thing to see on a pedigree. If the number is something similar to 25G then the 25 means the [more...]
